Kookaa is a small farming community in the Wenchi District of the Bono Region. It is made up of several tribes, including the Dagaare, Mossi, Lobi and the Wangla people.
A typically deprived community, Kookaa has literally no amenities. They have very bad, unmotorable roads which has almost cut them off from neighboring towns and villages. There are no schools, no health facilities, no public place of convenience, no electricity beyond two solar powered poles that supply all their lighting needs.
You can imagine how life in this community would be for the youth of the village who have to walk several miles to nearby towns in order to go to school. But that is not even their most pressing need.
The community draws their drinking water from the village stream, which they unfortunately share with their livestock. This has created several health complications for them, particularly women and children who tend to suffer most.
In order to help improve the living conditions of the people and curb the rising incidence of water-borne diseases, Theovision International, in partnership with one of its donors, has dug a borehole to supply clean water for the community.
The ministry has also established Bible Listening Groups (BLGs) in Kookaa to advance the gospel of Christ in the area.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, the chief of the village, Mr. Kwesi Nyan thanked Theovision for the donation. He said the community is relieved it can now access clean water for domestic uses. “Kookaa has come a long way, and we are indeed grateful for your show of love and generosity,” he said.
