Theovision International Officially Launch 30th Anniversary

Theovision International officially launched its 30th Anniversary to celebrate 30 years of ministry of transforming lives. The event was held at the Theovision headquarters in Accra on Friday, 17 May 2019. In 1989, Reverend Theodore Asare, president of Theovision International, saw the need to reach people with the Gospel, primarily in the rural areas. After careful consideration of the language barriers he faced, Rev. Theodore decided to record the Bible into audio in their own local language. Hence, the theme for the anniversary, “Reaching the Unreached through Audio Bibles”.

At the opening event, the oldest staff member of Theovision, Mark Adu Danso gave a speech. In his speech, he said: “On Wednesday, 17 May 1989, a seed was sown on good and fertile land and we have gathered here to bear witness of the fruits sprouted from the seed. God has used this ministry to transform many lives and it is good to celebrate the achievements.”

Rev. Theodore M.  Asare, Founder and President of Theovision International, expressed his appreciation for 30 years in ministry. “I’m glad God gave me the courage 30 years ago, to take this bold step to start the ministry. I knew Theovision was going to be an international organization because there is a great need for people to hear the Gospel, and God granted me that vision.” Rev. Asare said.

In his speech, he revealed that his vision was confirmed when he received an invitation from Faith Comes By Hearing (Now Hosanna) to tour their facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1987. As he was listening to an audio version of the Bible on cassette, recorded by Hosanna, he was convicted.

Rev. Asare said “I believe God was showing me a great leap to record the Bible in an audio format so that people in Africa who could not read will hear God’s voice in their own mother tongue. It sounds simple but it took a lot of sacrifice, challenges, sweat, and commitment.”

Bishop James Saah, Senior Bishop for Action Chapel, who was a guest speaker for the event affirmed Theovision’s upcoming successes and encouraged all partners and staff to support with their best efforts.  He said, “There will be a whole lot of social cultural and political forces. Society is not what it used to be 20 years ago. How will all these affect Theovision? There are things that must be done to move Theovision further.” Therefore, he urged Theovision staff and all her partners to continue the call given to them by God regardless of opposition.

Rev. Theodore thanked all partners of Theovision for supporting the organization throughout the 30 years of ministry: “I thank our partners for the tremendous support over the years and for allowing us to make the Bible in distant villages across Africa. Without these partners, Theovision would not have been able to record the Bible in 400 languages.”

Rev. Asare outdoored some of the activities lined up for the year-long celebrations which include Church visitation, Medical Outreach, Health Walk, 30-Day Bible Listening and other activities. The whole event ended with Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, who has been a friend of Theovision since its inception, cutting the cake together with Rev. Theodore Asare and his wife, Mrs. Monica Asare.
