From Darkness To Light

Elizabeth Yvorde had been living in darkness without hope of salvation for many years until she encountered the audio, Bible. Elizabeth hails from Chewel Kalba, a community in the Savannah region of Ghana, and shares her testimony of how she was born into a tradition of worshiping idols. “The idols were passed on to me by my father. The name of the idol is “Bokor” (Bird in the forest),” she testifies.

One day during the Bible listening session, I heard in 1 Corinthians 10:14 that “Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.” I learnt again in 1 John 5:21 that “Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.” Hearing these scriptures, I came to understand that I needed to give my heart completely to God and follow His will instead of my idols. In doing so, I have come to know Jesus Christ as my saviour.

Prior to joining the audio Bible Listening Program, Elizabeth was in total darkness. But once she began to listen to the audio Bible in Birifor language, the Holy Spirit showed her the way to the light. Nowadays, Elizabeth is a proud follower of the Church of Pentecost, and her life has changed dramatically.

Elizabeth’s faith and strength of character have been an inspiration to her community. Through her example, many of her family and friends have joined the Bible Listening Group in Chewel Kalba, and have come to know Jesus Christ as their saviour.

Elizabeth’s story is a testament to the transformative power of the Word of God. We believe her story will bring more people into the program, so that everyone can have the chance to encounter Jesus.
