Finding Peace in Chaos

Emelia Sodza, is a 30-year old woman from Alavanyo Peshe. As a Nursing Assistant volunteer at the Deduke Clinic, she normally has to leave her village to the next community to help provide healthcare assistance to the patients who visit the clinic. Also, as a married woman with two children, she has to sometimes leave her two children in the care of her husband or neighbours while she goes to work.

For some time, the community she lives in has been chaotic. Although a peaceful person, Emelia ends up being involved in petty quarrels or conflicts because of gossips happening amongst certain members in the community. The This situation went out of hand and became a part of the people living in the community. Many members of the community started experiencing similar issues as Emelia did and it led to small fights and disagreements.

In March 2020, a Bible Listening Group was established in the Alavanyo Peshe community with 15 attendees. As the Listening program continued, the people in the community started forgiving and loving each other as they learnt more about the love of Christ. Today, Emelia has been able to forgive many members in her community and her actions have helped others learn to find peace by forgiving people who wrong them. This has restored harmony in the community.
