HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Theovision International was founded in 1989 by Rev. Theodore Asare, after 12 years of missionary work in audio and television production to the Body of Christ in 15 countries. Rev. Asare started the ministry in a small room in his house at Adenta and then moved to a small office at the Methodist Headquarters in Accra. According to him, “I started humbly with almost nothing. I had the vision and just a staff whose salary I could not afford to pay. It took us five (5) years to complete the recording of the first audio New Testament (Akuapem Twi), with a used reel-to-reel tape recorder and a spirit of sacrifice and faithfulness”.

After a number of years, Theovision International moved to Bible House, to a slightly bigger room. Later, it moved to its present location, a more spacious property at Nmai Dzorn, near Ashalley Botwe in Accra, and as the Lord made room, so did Theovision International expand. Theovision International began to work beyond Ghana, increasing its recordings, and setting up offices in Kenya and Nigeria to reach other African countries.

Today, with access to digital computer equipment and a committed workforce imbued with the spirit of commitment and sacrifice, Theovision is able to complete a New Testament recording within three months.

Theovision was birthed in prayer and continues to be sustained by prayer. Prayer has been the backbone of this growing organization.

Whatever modest achievements Theovision has made could not have been possible without the able, committed and God fearing staff of the ministry. God has given Rev. Asare a very dedicated team who share his burden and vision. This team, which is committed to the heartbeat of God, is ever prepared to travel long distances away from home to the remotest villages in Africa to record the Bible into local languages, and present the Gospel to the natives, even under very harsh conditions.

The audio Scriptures in the mother tongue which Theovision promotes have removed barriers, and made Christianity, which was considered a foreign religion, now real and acceptable to many Africans. Several people have come to know the Lord through Bible listening programs in communities, churches, schools, hospitals, villages, prisons, military barracks, police stations and other public places.
