PARTICIPANTS EXCITED ABOUT REAL PRACTICE ON SITE
After that wonderful opening yesterday, day 2 begun with four breakout sessions focusing on selected areas of media training which attendees chose from. Participants received training in interview skills, common mistakes and how to avoid them on radio, creating an integrated web presence and leadership.
Facilitators adapted a unique approach which made the sessions very interactive and reciprocal. While the facilitators shared their presentations, they in turn inquired from participants how they are addressing similar challenges in their organizations. In the Social Media track, one attendant from a rural area raised the issue of lack of internet access which hampers the use of social media in these area.
This challenge appeared pervasive but Brian, a Web Marketing Specialist at Moody radio responded that the challenges may be different but finding a creative way to address these challenges is a must for all. From the feedback they received from participants, some facilitators have had to alter their presentations in order to address specific needs of their audience. This has been noted by attendants as hugely impactful.
The afternoon’s practical sessions were greeted with delight and enthusiasm from participants. They could see in the afternoon what they had heard in the morning. The radio production session for instance produced a short feature on a local brick builder working at the site of the training. Together with the group, Jon Gauger, a 29 year veteran with Moody radio, generated the idea, wrote the script, went out to interview the brick maker, came in to edit and selected a narrator from among the participants to read the text for this short feature which is available on our face book page.
The group reconvened from the breakout sessions to a Media showcase where participants shared how they are using the media to spread the Gospel in their various ministries. Diana Hopson, a renowned Ghanaian Gospel Artiste and a participant in this training shared the story of how she rides on her successful Gospel ministry to spread God’s word through radio interviews. She has also found facebook to be a powerful tool in reaching out to her fans with God’s word. In interacting with them she says “it starts with music and ends with the Gospel.”
The evening’s worship service was a continuation of what has become a moment of bliss in God’s presence. Pastor David and the Theovision Worship team lead songs of praise and worship after which Dr. Winfrey continued his Exposition on Ruth. He shared through God’s word how our daily routine life matters. He said “you have to think biblically about your life. Your daily life matters.” Dr. Winfrey couldn’t have said it better when he said extraordinary things have happened today because God is in it.
